Case briefs pile up.
Your flashcards don't.
You're reading 100+ pages a week. Briefing every case. Taking notes in every class. But when finals come, those notes sit untouched. Cruxly takes a photo of your case briefs, outlines, or class notes and generates exam-style questions in 60 seconds.
Sound familiar?
Real frustrations from law students who switched.
“I brief every case. I never look at them again. By finals, I've forgotten everything from September.”
— 1L, drowning in Torts
“My professor cold-calls from old exams. I should be making flashcards from those. But when? I'm reading until midnight.”
— 2L, on law review
“Commercial outlines are great, but they don't match my professor's emphasis. I need flashcards from MY notes.”
— 3L, prepping for the bar
“I spent reading week making flashcards instead of actually studying. Never again.”
— 1L, learned the hard way
The math that matters
Average time to create study materials from law school notes. We timed real students.
| Material | Manual Entry | With Cruxly | Time Saved |
|---|---|---|---|
| Case briefs (1 week of Civ Pro) | 2 hours | 5 min | 115 min |
| Class notes (1 semester) | 8+ hours | 20 min | 7+ hours |
| Commercial outline highlights | 3 hours | 8 min | ~3 hours |
| Professor's old exam answers | 90 min | 3 min | 87 min |
| Attack outline for finals | 2 hours | 5 min | 115 min |
| Full semester prep | 15+ hours | ~45 min | 14+ hours |
That's 14+ hours per semester you could spend outlining, doing practice exams, or sleeping before finals.

What you can photo
If it's law school material, we can turn it into questions.
Case Briefs
Photo your handwritten or typed case briefs. Generate questions on holdings, reasoning, and key facts.
Even messy briefs work—our OCR handles law student handwriting.
Class Notes
Snap your notes from lecture. Turn your professor's hypotheticals and examples into testable questions.
Pro tip: Photo the notes from classes you missed too.
Commercial Outlines
Emanuel's? Examples & Explanations? Photo the sections you've highlighted. Generate questions on what matters.
Works with: Emanuel, E&E, Quimbee, BarBri 1L, and any other outline.
Old Exams & Model Answers
Your professor's past exams are gold. Photo the model answers and generate questions on the issues tested.
This is targeted exam prep—not generic flashcards.
Attack Outlines
That condensed, last-minute outline you make before finals? Photo it. Quiz yourself on the compressed rules.
Hornbooks & Supplements
Prosser on Torts? Wright & Miller? Dense hornbook pages become bite-sized quiz questions.

Law student FAQ
Does it understand legal terminology?
Yes. Our AI handles legal jargon well—holdings, dicta, stare decisis, res judicata, and more. Questions generated are contextually appropriate for law school. It won't confuse 'consideration' (contracts) with 'consideration' (everyday meaning).
Can it create issue-spotting questions?
Sort of. We create discrete questions (MCQ, true/false, short answer) rather than full essay prompts. These are great for memorizing rules and elements, recalling key case holdings, and quick review before cold calls. For full issue-spotting practice, you still need to do practice exams.
What about bar exam prep?
We have a dedicated bar exam page with specific features for MBE prep. But yes—Cruxly works for bar prep too. Many students use it throughout law school and continue into bar prep with the same subscription.
How does it compare to Quimbee?
Different tools, different purposes. Quimbee: Pre-made briefs, case summaries, video explanations. Cruxly: Turns YOUR notes into personalized quizzes. Many students use both—Quimbee to understand cases you didn't have time to read, Cruxly to memorize what your professor emphasized in class.
I'm a 1L. Is this worth it?
1L is actually the best time to start. You're building study habits that will carry through law school and bar prep. Active recall now means better cold call performance, stronger finals prep, and a head start on bar exam memorization. Plus, the free tier (5 quizzes/month) might be enough for your first semester.
Can I export to Anki?
Yes. One-click export to Anki-compatible format. Many law students prefer Anki for spaced repetition. Use Cruxly to generate cards quickly, then study in Anki if that's your preference.
Does it work for seminar papers or journals?
If you have research notes, we can turn them into questions to help you remember key sources and arguments. But Cruxly is primarily designed for exam prep, not research papers.
Study the law. Not flashcard software.
You didn't come to law school to type flashcards. Let AI handle that part.
