10 weeks to the bar.
Zero time for flashcards.
You have thousands of pages of Barbri outlines. You don't have hundreds of hours to type them into Anki. Cruxly takes a photo of your bar prep materials and generates MBE-style questions in 60 seconds.
Not affiliated with Barbri, Themis, or any bar prep company.

— Retaker, aiming for 280+ MBE
“Everyone says 'make flashcards for the rules.' Sure. Let me just add 40 hours of card-making to my 400-hour study plan.”

The math that matters
Average time to create study materials from bar prep outlines. We timed real bar candidates.
| Material | Manual Entry | With Cruxly | Time Saved |
|---|---|---|---|
| Contracts outline (60 pages) | 3+ hours | 8 min | 2 hrs 52 min |
| Evidence rules chapter | 90 min | 3 min | 87 min |
| Con Law amendments | 45 min | 2 min | 43 min |
| Crim Law elements | 60 min | 2 min | 58 min |
| Property estates chart | 40 min | 1 min | 39 min |
| Full MBE subject review | 15+ hours | 45 min | 14+ hours |
| Complete bar prep cards | 50+ hours | ~3 hours | 47+ hours |
That's 47+ hours you could spend on practice questions, essay writing, or—radical idea—sleeping more than 5 hours a night.

Our Honest Take:
Pre-made Anki decks (like the popular Reddit bar prep decks) are great—if they match your bar course and jurisdiction. But if you're using Barbri and the deck was made from Themis, or you're in a community property state and the deck assumes common law, you'll spend hours customizing anyway.
Cruxly doesn't replace your bar course. It doesn't replace essay practice. It doesn't replace Adaptibar for MBE drilling. What it replaces: the 50+ hours you'd spend typing your Barbri outlines into flashcards. That's it. And that's enough.
What you can photo
If it has rules on it, we can turn it into questions.
Barbri/Themis Outlines
Photo your commercial bar prep outlines. Dense formatting? Multi-column layouts? Tiny footnotes? We handle it.

Adaptibar/UWorld Explanations
Screenshot those gold-star explanations you keep meaning to review. Turn answer rationales into active recall questions.
Pro tip: Photo the explanation, not just the question. That's where the learning is.
CMR/Conviser Mini Review
The condensed outlines are perfect for Cruxly. One photo = 20-30 focused questions on black letter law.
Critical Pass Flashcards
Already have Critical Pass? Photo the cards you struggle with most. Generate additional questions on those specific rules.
Handwritten Notes
Your condensed outlines, rule statements, and essay issue-spotting notes—all fair game. Even if your handwriting is terrible.
Lecture Screenshots

Questions from bar candidates
Does this replace Barbri/Themis?
Absolutely not. Your bar course provides the structure, lectures, practice essays, and simulated MBE questions you need. Cruxly replaces one specific thing: the hours you'd spend typing outlines into flashcards. Think of it this way: Barbri/Themis = Learn the material. Adaptibar/UWorld = Practice MBE questions. Cruxly = Memorize the rules faster. We're one tool in your toolkit, not the whole toolkit.
Can it create real MBE-style questions?
Sort of. We generate multiple-choice questions with 4 answer options, similar to MBE format. They test rule knowledge and basic application. But real MBE questions are crafted by experts with carefully designed distractors. For true MBE simulation, use Adaptibar, UWorld, or your bar course's practice questions. Cruxly is for memorizing rules, not simulating the exam.
What about MEE/MPT prep?
We create discrete questions, not essay prompts. You can't practice issue-spotting or essay organization with flashcards. That said, many bar candidates use Cruxly to memorize the rules they'll apply on essays. Knowing the rule cold = faster recall during the essay = more time for analysis.
I only have 6 weeks left. Is it worth starting now?
Especially now. The traditional advice is 'make flashcards early.' If you're 6 weeks out and haven't started, you don't have 50 hours to type cards. But you do have 3 hours to photo your outlines. Focus on subjects you're weakest in. Photo those outlines first. Even 2 weeks of spaced repetition on your trouble areas can move your MBE score.
How does it compare to pre-made Anki decks?
Pre-made decks are great—if they match your materials. The problem: If you use Barbri but the deck is from Themis, the organization won't match. If you're in California but the deck assumes common law property, you'll need to supplement. Cruxly makes cards from YOUR outlines, YOUR bar course, YOUR jurisdiction.
What about state-specific subjects?
We generate questions from whatever you photo. If your state has community property, photo your community property outline. If you have state-specific civil procedure rules, photo those pages. The AI reads the content and generates relevant questions.
Can I export to Anki?
Yes. One-click export to Anki-compatible format. Many bar candidates prefer Anki's interface for studying. Use Cruxly to generate the cards (the hard part), then export to Anki for spaced repetition (the familiar part).
